Industries · How landscapers get recommended by ChatGPT and AI search
Homeowners ask AI who can build a patio or plant natives. Show your work in words.
Landscaping questions mix design ideas, prices and timing: "how much is a paver patio", "native plant landscaper near me", "when should I aerate my lawn here?". Companies that answer with their own local experience get named.

What people ask AI assistants
- “Landscaper in [city] who designs with native plants”
- “How much does a 300 sq ft paver patio cost in [city]?”
- “Weekly lawn maintenance companies near me”
- “Best time to plant trees in [region]”
Why does AI search matter for landscapers?
Landscaping is visual, and most landscaping sites are galleries. Photos persuade people, but an assistant needs words: what the project was, the materials, the size and the town.
Local knowledge is the edge. Climate, soil, water rules and native plants differ by region, and a company that writes about them for its own area has something no national site can copy.
Design-build, maintenance and hardscaping are different buyers. Separate pages let an assistant match the right one to each question.

From GeoLumen's own scan on 2026-10-19 of public files only (robots.txt, llms.txt, homepage). 13 of 32 readable homepages used an industry-specific schema type, and 2 of the 13 sites serving something at /llms.txt served a broken, empty or HTML file. Our home-services sample is 34 plumbing, heating & cooling, roofing, electrical and landscaping companies scanned together, so these numbers describe local trades as a group, not this trade alone. Small samples: treat these as a snapshot, not a census.
The landscaping company checklist
Things to do this week, roughly in order.
- Caption your project photos with town, scope and materials.
- Give maintenance, design-build and hardscaping their own pages.
- Publish price ranges for common jobs and say what moves them.
- Write one seasonal guide for your own region, from your experience.
- Show any contractor or pesticide applicator licence as text.
- Add HomeAndConstructionBusiness schema with areaServed and hours.
What are the common mistakes, and the fixes?
- 01

Caption each project: town, scope, materials and roughly how long it took.
- 02
Maintenance and design on one page
Split ongoing maintenance, design-build and hardscaping into their own pages with what's included.
- 03
Licences and certifications missing
Where your state licenses landscape contractors or pesticide applicators, show the licence as text.
- 04
No business schema
Use HomeAndConstructionBusiness with areaServed and hours, and describe your services.

Which schema should landscapers use?
schema.org has no dedicated landscaper type, so use HomeAndConstructionBusiness (or the broader LocalBusiness) and describe your services in the text: design, hardscaping, maintenance, irrigation.
